Santa Clara, Calif., July 21, 2008 – Silver Peak Systems , the leading provider of scalable Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration solutions, today announced that Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), an international nonprofit organization, deployed Silver Peak’s NX appliances to accelerate access to the company’s centralized file servers (from both Mac- and Windows-based clients). In addition, EDC is using Silver Peak’s WAN acceleration to optimize the performance of web services, email, and video conferencing, while accelerating the backup of key data using Compellent replication, Data Domain deduplication, and Commvault remote backup software.
“EDC is a large and complex organization and we evaluated many WAN acceleration solutions to see which could best accommodate our needs,” said Jeff Post, network manager at EDC. “We selected Silver Peak to help us support our high bandwidth, high flow count environment and optimize other key applications across our WAN, including web traffic, video conferencing, and Citrix, as well as remote backup and replication services critical for EDC’s disaster recovery preparedness,” Post said.
The Silver Peak solution is optimized to support large networks, delivering the best performance on high capacity WAN links and across many distributed enterprise locations. Silver Peak offers the industry’s premier solution for disk-based WAN deduplication – Network Memory™ – which reduces more than 95 percent of WAN traffic and ensures LAN-like application performance across the WAN by eliminating the transfer of duplicate data. Network Memory works on all enterprise applications, regardless of transport protocol (TCP, UDP or proprietary) or latency requirements. As a result, Silver Peak is commonly used to accelerate a variety of business-critical applications, including real-time data replication, remote backup, SQL, file, email, web, Voice over IP (VoIP) and streaming video.
